As part of the ‘Return to Nature Clare Church Biodiversity Project’ Irish Seed Savers will host a workshop at Clarecastle ‘Abbey Hall’ (Eircode: V95A329) scheduled for Monday, 20th of May from 10am to 1pm. This half day workshop will involve learning about traditional native orchards including mapping, planting and managing orchards.
There will be an indoor element (PowerPoint presentation) and an outdoor element (at the local church yard). Topics covered will include choice of site, orchard layout, choosing rootstocks, soil preparation, orchard maintenance, health and disease management, choosing varieties and pruning techniques.
