This field-based workshop will uncover the hidden wonders of bog ecosystems. Participants will explore the unique biodiversity, ecological functions, and conservation significance of bogs, while exploring the Derreennatra Bog. Through interactive discussion, and specimen observations, attendees will gain an in-depth appreciation of these often-overlooked and under-appreciated landscapes.
On this walk you will learn to:
● Understand the formation and ecological importance of bogs.
● Identify key plant and animal species found in bog habitats.
● Learn about conservation efforts to protect bog ecosystems.
The event is family friendly and children must be accompanied by an adult. We recommend dressing appropriately for this outdoor activity.
