Croom Invasive Species Workshop: Protecting the Maigue Catchment from Invasive Species

May 17 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

This workshop will introduce you to the identification of common invasive species found in and along rivers, helping you better understand their impact on freshwater ecosystems. You’ll also learn how scientists assess river health through practical techniques, including kick-sampling to collect and identify aquatic invertebrates which are key indicators of water quality.

The session will also cover essential biosecurity practices, explaining the Check, Clean, Dry approach to prevent the spread of invasive species when working or recreating in freshwater environments.

The workshop is divided into two parts: a 90-minute indoor session featuring an engaging presentation, followed by a 90-minute outdoor field experience at the river.

Location: Croom Civic Centre. There is parking available. Register your spot via eventbrite.
