Bumblebee Transect Training

Join us for a fun and hands-on in-person training session all about how to identify and monitor our wonderful butterflies and bumblebees. Mayo based Ecologist Dr Karina Dingerkus will guide you through practical ways you can help support efforts to protect these precious creatures. It’s a great chance to learn, connect with other nature lovers, and help out our big beautiful bumblebees .
At this workshop you will learn about:
- Ireland’s Bumblebees and why they are under threat
- How to Identify common Irish Bumblebees
- How to complete a bumblebee transect to monitor bumblebees
- Other monitoring methods
Exact meeting place to be confirmed depending on weather on the day. We will have a break in the middle for lunch, so plan to bring a packed lunch or there are a number of excellent cafes in town serving food.
This event is free and funded by Mayo Biodiversity Office via the NPWS Local Biodiversity Action Fund, but please register if you plan to attend.
