Bertra Beach: The Importance of Dune Conservation

Join NPWS for a guided walk at Bertra Beach, exploring the vital importance of dune systems and the role of dunes in coastal protection, biodiversity, and climate resilience.

This walk will highlight how dune systems function, why they are so important to protect, and how ongoing dune research helps inform conservation and management. The event is supported by Bertra Connected, University of Galway, and Mayo County Council Biodiversity Office, bringing together local knowledge, scientific research, and conservation expertise.
