Kerry Biodiversity Conference Highlights Conservation, Research and Community Action
An exciting Biodiversity Conference, hosted by Kerry County Council in partnership with Munster Technological University (MTU), will take place on May 22nd and 23rd 2026, bringing together experts, policymakers, community groups and the public to celebrate and protect the county’s rich natural heritage.
The ‘Kerry Biodiversity Conference 2026’ will showcase ongoing biodiversity conservation initiatives across Kerry and beyond. The event will feature a programme of talks and presentations, highlighting the diversity of species and habitats found throughout the county and the collaborative work being undertaken to conserve them.
The conference is led by Kerry County Council, represented by Eleanor Turner, Biodiversity Officer, and staff from the MTU Honours Degree in Wildlife Biology. Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity, Christopher O’Sullivan TD, will attend to officially open the conference on Day One.
Agencies and organisations attending and presenting include the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), LAWPRO, the National Biodiversity Data Centre, Sea Synergy, the Vincent Wildlife Trust, reflecting a strong cross-sectoral approach to conservation.
