Free & for families \n\n\n\n\n🌿 Native Woodland Wander\nGuided Biodiversity Walk at Gracedieu Wood \nJoin the Native Woodland Trust this National Biodiversity Week 2026 for a guided walk through the evolving habitats of Gracedieu Native Woodland Reserve\, accessible along the Waterford Greenway. \nThis relaxed\, family‑friendly walk begins at Bilberry Carpark and follows the Greenway towards Gracedieu Wood. Along the way\, we’ll pause to take in the sights\, sounds and smells of nature — from wildflowers and the insects that visit them\, to shrubs\, young native trees and towering veteran trees that form the scaffolding of Ireland’s woodland ecosystems. \nLed by Jeremy Casey\, this walk offers a chance to explore a native woodland reserve that is still being planted and shaped\, highlighting how woodlands grow\, develop and support biodiversity over time. \nOnce at the reserve\, we’ll stop to enjoy a picnic lunch with tea and coffee\, before making our way back to Bilberry Carpark. \n🌳 What you’ll explore\n\nEstablishing and mature native woodland habitats\nWildflowers\, insects and woodland understorey species\nHow native woodlands support biodiversity\nThe role of restoration and long‑term stewardship\n\n👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Who is this for?\n\nAll ages welcome\nChildren under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian\nSuitable for families\, walkers and nature enthusiasts\n\n📍 Event Details\nDate: Saturday 23rd May 2026\nTime: 10:30am – 1:30pm\nMeeting Point: Bilberry Carpark\n👉 https://maps.app.goo.gl/1hFW2Fy27eGGZWXm7\nTickets: Free (booking required) \n🥾 What to bring\n\nField guides (birds\, wildflowers\, insects\, etc.)\nBinoculars (if you have them)\nWarm\, waterproof layered clothing\nSturdy walking shoes\nWater\, snacks and a packed lunch\nAny medication you require\nSunblock and a hat for warmer days\n\n☕ Tea\, coffee and biscuits will be provided.
