DESCRIPTION:Join Woodlands of Ireland for an engaging and informative workshop\, ‘Naturalness\, Humans and Woodland Diversity’\, taking place during National Biodiversity Week 2026 at the beautiful setting of Enniscoe House\, Prospect\, Castlehill\, Co. Mayo. \nLed by ecologist Aidan Corcoran\, this event will explore key woodland ecology concepts through both an indoor presentation and an outdoor guided walk. Participants will gain insight into plant succession\, the role of disturbance in shaping woodland ecosystems\, and the principles of coppice silviculture as a traditional and sustainable woodland management practice. \nThis workshop offers a valuable opportunity for anyone interested in native woodlands\, biodiversity\, and ecological processes to deepen their understanding in a practical\, field-based setting. \nEvent Details: \n📍 Location: Enniscoe House\, Prospect\, Castlehill\, Co. Mayo (F26 EA34) \n🕥 Time: 10:30am – 4:30pm \nAgenda: \n\n10.30am: Meet for refreshments\n11am: Lecture followed by discussion\n1pm: Lunch break – Bring your own lunch or avail of Café on site.\n2pm – 4.30pm: Woodland walk\n\nInformation to Note: \n\nParking will be at the North Mayo Heritage Centre carpark\, F26 FR94 and not at Enniscoe House.\nPlease note that Woodlands of Ireland may take photographs and videos throughout the course of the event.\nThe day will involve walking along trails throughout the estate.
