SUMMARY:Biodiversity Week 2026 | Seed sowing made simple
DESCRIPTION:Join Carla at the Seed Library for a relaxed and welcoming meet‑and‑greet\, where you can enjoy a cuppa while picking up practical seed‑sowing tips and tricks. We’ll cover soil preparation\, light and timing\, with plenty of opportunity to share local knowledge\, swap ideas\, and chat about what grows best in local gardens. \nThe Portlaoise seed library is a free community resource where people can borrow seeds\, grow them at home\, and save and return seeds at the end of the season for others to use. \nOperating on a simple “borrow\, grow\, return” model\, the Seed Library supports sustainable gardening while helping to build a locally adapted seed collection suited to local soils\, climate\, and growing conditions. \nA wide range of vegetable\, herb\, and pollinator‑friendly flower seeds are available\, making growing accessible to everyone\, regardless of experience or garden size. \nBy sharing locally grown vegetable\, herb\, and pollinator‑friendly seeds\, seed libraries help protect biodiversity\, preserve heritage varieties\, and build local knowledge about what grows best in our area.
