Celebrate National Biodiversity Week with us in partnership with the Irish Environmental Network! Join us as we celebrate National Biodiversity Week by taking a wonder through our Rinnagan nature reserve in Lecarrow, Co. Roscommon.

We will be meeting our little carpark at our Lecarrow Reserve at 10:30 am on Saturday the 18th of May 2024 (Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/rCWsdhKpptTP2V1S9) From there we will take a walk through the reserve; firstly past our nursery, then through the wildflower meadow, the emergent woodland and scrub section, and finally the native woodland which terminates on the banks of Lough Ree. It’s here we’ll have our picnic and packed lunches before heading back through the reserve towards home.

We’ll learn more about the site itself, the special trees, plants and animals who call this native woodland home. We’ll also learn about how the reserve fits in in terms of conservation in the surrounding area, and about our local Branch of volunteers who are succeeding in their mission to conserve Irish heritage and see ancient woodlands in the area expand for the first time in hundreds of years.
