DESCRIPTION:Join Louth Bat Group to find out more about these wonderful animals. Discover the range of species living in our urban parks\, river corridors\, trees and hedgerows. Find out more about the importance of dark skies how we can all help support bats by providing suitable habitats and nesting spaces. \nMeet at the band-stand\, St. Helena’s Park at 8.30pm. \nSuitable for age 9+ (All under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.) \nThis event will be held outdoors\, at night please come dressed appropriately for outside weather conditions. A red torch and warm\, weather-proof clothing is recommended. \nNo dogs allowed. This event is weather dependent. \nPlease email louthbatgroup@outlook.com to book a place. \nThis session is supported by Bat Conservation Ireland. It funded through the Local Authority Biodiversity Action Fund by the National Parks and Wildlife Service and Louth County Council. \nIt has been organised by the Louth County Council Biodiversity Officer. \nThe Local Authority Biodiversity Officer Programme is delivered in partnership between Local Government Ireland and the Heritage Council\, and is part of the Ceangal Local Authority Heritage Programme.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an illustrated talk on stargazing\, human health and wildlife. The presentation will have a focus on the effect of light on biodiversity and our dark sky heritage. The audience will get an understanding of how light pollution affects us all – our health and wellbeing and our biodiversity\, wild life\, plants and trees. \n\nParticipants will also get a taste of the hidden star trails and nebulas – typically unseen with the naked eye. Slides will include photos of nebulas\, star trails and galaxies by local Astrophotographer\, Darren Flynn.
