The Black Darter Dragonfly - get crafty and make your own dragonfly @ Online

Dragonflies are important indicator species of both freshwater and terrestrial habitats. The Black Darter dragonfly is found on peatlands and in acidic freshwater habitats where its presence alone represents the quality of the natural environment. It is under threat as a result of human activity such as the draining of peatlands, peat extraction and climate change. To celebrate Biodiversity Week 2021, the Irish Peatland Conservation Council want to raise the profile of our winged peatland friend by designing a social media tutorial video for the younger generation. Viewers will learn how to make their own dragonfly from the comfort of their own homes, using easily sourced materials. This engaging event will kick start our celebration of Biodiversity week.
