Pond talk followed by practical outdoor workshop looking at aquatic life
Ponds and their surrounds are incredible habitats for a wide range of wildlife from aquatic plants and birds, to bats and larger mammals, not to mention the weird and wonderful invertebrates that inhabit them! Come join Aoife O’Rourke, An Taisce’s Legacy4LIFE Ponds for Biodiversity Pond Development Officer, and Feidhlim Harty, An Taisce’s Legacy4LIFE Ponds for Biodiversity Technical Pond creation Advisor and the wonderful wetlands staff for a talk about pond creation, management and monitoring for wildlife, followed by light refreshments and a practical look some of the wetland ponds on-site and the amazing aquatic life they are home to. You will also learn how to simply classify a pond as: “in need of care”, “good”, or “excellent quality” etc. based on the invertebrates present.
