Biodiversity Festival and Bioblitz in Mountbellew, Co. Galway on the evening of the 26th May and throughout the day on the 27th May.

Come and join us as we race to identify as many species as possible within a 24-hour period and attend the various biodiversity events and surveys that are planned for the weekend. All are welcome!

Friday 26th May Opening of Event and Exhibition of Moth and Mammal Survey Techniques

Event opens: 7:15pm – 7:45pm

Moth exhibition: 7:45pm-8:30pm

Location: Holy Rosary College, Mountbellew

Join the team of ecologists and students in Holy Rosary College (HRC) to start the timer in the race to record as many species of wild plants and animals as possible within a 24-hour period that will run from 7:30pm on Friday the 26th of May, for 24 hours.

Bat survey and nocturnal foray

Time: 9:30pm – 11:00pm

Location: Mountbellew Demesne – Meet at Old Forge

Requirements: Bring warm clothes, a torch and midge repellent Come and assist our team of surveyors as they search for creatures of the night in Mountbellew Demesne. Our team will be on hand to answer any questions and provide information on the bat species of Ireland, their ecology and use of different habitat types.
