Find out how to manage a community pond for wildlife and what fascinating aquatic life can be found in ponds.

Ponds and their surrounds are incredible habitats for a wide range of wildlife from aquatic plants and birds, to bats and larger mammals, not to mention the weird and wonderful invertebrates that inhabit them! Come join Aoife O’Rourke, An Taisce’s Legacy4LIFE Ponds for Biodiversity Pond Development Officer, and Feidhlim Harty, An Taisce’s Legacy4LIFE Ponds for Biodiversity Technical Pond creation Advisor for a talk about pond management and monitoring for wildlife, followed by light refreshments and a practical look at some of the amazing aquatic life ponds are home to. You will also learn how to simply classify a pond as: “in need of care”, “good”, or “excellent quality” etc. based on the invertebrates present.

Location: Myshall Community Centre, Carlow
