12:45 – 2:15 Nature Walk (booking essential – places are limited)

12:30 – 2:30 Drop-in BioHub (no booking needed)

Meeting point: Hazelwood Carpark

Join Declan Little, Ecological Lead at Coillte Nature, on a guided walk around Hazelwood to learn about the ecology of this special woodland and the biodiversity restoration works taking place.

To celebrate Biodiversity Week, there will be a pop-up ‘BioHub’ at the Hazelwood carpark where you can drop by and chat about nature and the environment. Community Water Officer Karen Kennedy and Catchment Scientist Aisling Reilly will demonstrate water sampling and talk about biodiversity in and around Lough Gill, and what this can tell us about the health of the surrounding environment. Coillte Nature’s Outreach Manager Hedda Dick will be there to talk to you about the ongoing ‘Restoring Hazelwood’ biodiversity project.

There will be a nature scavenger hunt for big and little kids to see what you can notice about nature in Hazelwood.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and shoes for the nature walk.
