This event will be an online discussion on broad economic measures (applying to the whole economy, rather than just the agricultural sector) which could make it easier for farmers to regenerate biodiversity on Irish farmland.
We will present some ideas that are explored in a new Feasta discussion paper, ‘Moving the economic goalposts of Irish agriculture’, in the context of biodiversity regeneration, and will invite reactions and other ideas from the audience. Doughnut economics and wellbeing economics will be part of the discussion.
The event will be a follow-up to initial discussion about the paper, which took place on the morning of April 28th, and will incorporate learnings from it. The focus at this event will be on the experience of farmers.
We will publish a short report after the event to sum up what we learnt, and explore possible next steps.
