Bird ringing demonstration on North Bull Island @ North Bull Island Nature Reserve

Discover how bird populations are monitored on North Bull Island at this ringing demonstration by the Irish Midlands Ringing Group.

North Bull Island is an internationally important site for birds. In order to conserve species, we need to monitor populations. By ringing birds, you can track their movements, see how successfully they breed, and how long they survive. Over time, this gives us a greater understanding and lets us know if interventions are required.

This family friendly event for all ages will show you the techniques used by the Irish Midands Ringing Group to catch, weigh, measure and ring birds. Demonstrations will run from 8:30am to 10:30am at the entrance to St Anne’s Golf Club on the Causeway Road on North Bull Island. Part of the Dublin City Biodiversity Action Plan.

Event is free, suitable for all ages and wheelchair friendly. No booking is required.
