Guided biodiversity & ancient woodland walk and picnic led by Jeremy Casey of the Native Woodland Trust on their Rinnagan nature reserve in Lecarrow, Co. Roscommon.

Join us as we celebrate National Biodiversity Week by taking a wonder through our Rinnagan nature reserve in Lecarrow, Co. Roscommon.

We will be meeting our little carpark at our Lecarrow Reserve at 10:30 am on Saturday the 27th of May 2023 (Maps:

From there we will take a walk through the reserve; firstly past our nursery, then through the wildflower meadow, the emergent woodland and scrub section, and finally the native woodland which terminates on the banks of Lough Ree. It’s here we’ll have our picnic and packed lunches before heading back through the reserve home.

We’ll learn more about the site itself, the trees and animals who call it home. We’ll also learn about how the reserve fits in in terms of conservation in the surrounding area, and how our local Roscommon branch are expanding nearby ancient woodlands one seedling at a time.
