An introduction to Irish ocean life: exploring the threats to our ocean, solutions, and importance of healthy seas

With Eco-Unesco

Did you know that there is a huge coral reef off the west coast of Ireland? This workshop explores the amazing range of marine species which can be found right here in Irish waters – from fish, seals, jellyfish, coral reefs, whales and even sharks! We will discuss the importance of marine biodiversity and how protecting a healthy ocean is important in order to protect human health and how the ocean can even help us in the fight against climate change. We will also explore the various threats which are currently harming the ocean environment such as pollution, overfishing, and global warming, and we will focus on the positive solutions and actions which we can take as individuals and in our communities to help advocate for marine conservation and protection.
