Greening the City – Creating Space for Biodiversity

May 25 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Illustrated lecture with Dr. John A. McCullen (OPW) on the importance of city trees, followed by an Urban gardening workshop with Rebecca Jeffares, a landscape historian.

The workshop will demonstrate container planting for city dwellers focusing on new and innovative ways to use the little outdoor space they have to grow fresh vegetables, herbs or lovely flowers.

Whether city residents live in an apartment with either a balcony or no outdoor space at all, they can start a productive and easy to manage garden using containers, temporary raised beds,or a nearby communal green space.

Plants will be gifted to participants to grow on at home, to encourage a continued interest in making the city greener.
